Animal Waste

The ReCip® Technology has been used to treat high strength waste streams for several years. One of the great benefits of the ReCip® is its versatility and flexibility to remediate most known contaminants.  The ReCip® can be specifically designed to remediate known nutrients at targeted removal rates and then sized to meet the daily volume measured in gallons per day.

The Swine Industry, along with the general public, has been seeking a solution to treat swine waste rather than the using the existing and conventional lagoon system.  The ReCip® is being used in two swine projects to document the ReCip®'s operating performance (economics & nutrient reductions) under two different scenarios.  The documented results will determine the potential use of the ReCip® by swine farmers across the US.

The most recently installed system is located in North Carolina and treats the wastewater directly from 1,876 finishing swine.  The project is part of the Smithfield Food, Premium Standard Farms, and NC Attorney General Initiative to find an "Environmentally Superior Technology" to update or upgrade the approved treatment methods using lagoon free alternative technologies.  The ReCip is being evaluated by NC State University over 12 months and performance information will be published as it is released.

The first system installed to treat swine waste is located in Alabama and has been in operation for several years.  The ReCip® system is treating solids and wastewater directly from an existing lagoon serving eight finishing barns.  The ReCip® system has significantly reduced swine odor while improving swine mortality rates.  The performance information about this system will be published when released to the general public.
